We Are Blessed

Well another wonderful Christmas has passed and we are prepping for the New Year. The girls had a wonderful Christmas, they didn’t ask for much this year, so we asked Santa for a new TV and sound system. Along with that new Game Cube Games, LOTS of movies, and board games. This year was all about family and things to do together.

For the first time in years my parents came up to spend Christmas with us. It was so great having everyone here. Someday we will rent a dinning hall and caterer so we will be able to spend Christmas with all our loved ones, but for now my house is pretty full when you shove 14 adults and 8 children into it.
Everyone was well fed and entertained. Grandma didn’t get ran over by the reindeer, but after sledding with JD and the girls she was sleep on the couch by 8 on Christmas eve. On Christmas it was Buddy’s turn. Grandpa enjoyed teaching us young-uns the proper way to play Texas hold-em and the shot guns only came out a few times.

We are so blessed to have one another...

so much to do and so little time

So there are comment quirks on my site…I am sorry for the quirks….I have no idea what I did and ….I plan on not even looking at it until after the holidays….but I am sure it was user error…or the fact that you should not wait for Blogger Omega…

The season is running away from me only a few more days till Christmas. The cards just got out and I have not mailed one package. I have gotten my shopping done. We went on the annual family shopping trip Sunday and the girls have bought all of their gifts, Wal-Mart…one stop…I love it. We spent last Saturday getting a start on some candy making, Heather and Hunter enjoyed that.

Johns bosses threw another great Christmas Party (last Friday), we all missed Jeremy but enjoyed watching the entertaining drunk people. This year we were treated to a male stripper, his poor girlfriend was so embarrassed. I got JD home before he could get into trouble.

Christmas is a little different for me this year, the girls aren’t getting greedy and they are more concerned with others. In fact they aren’t even trying to peek. Tay gets in the car after school and is more concerned if I ate fast food without her, then the piles of packages trying to hide in the back seat. Don’t get me wrong they know every package under the tree, and they know that very few are for them, but they have not asked where theirs is. Byrd is the only one that has voiced any concern over this and it is more about “Why Dad has gotten SO MANY!”

I am looking forward to hosting Christmas dinner and am hoping to have most of family here to celebrate….I am crossing my fingers and getting a little nervous…I have my food list made up and plan on shopping tomorrow. How will I ever get enough chairs???....so much to do and so little time….I LOVE IT!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Byrd

Yesterday was Byrd’s birthday, (I would have posted sooner but I spent the day making death masks with her class mates) my baby is now NINE, I wonder where all the time has passed. Seems like yesterday I was calling my mom letting her know Byrd was coming a day ahead of schedule. The doctor had us scheduled for a Tuesday delivery when Byrd decided she couldn’t wait another day. Mom was going to join us so she could watch Rose and Tay while I was in the hospital. Shane and Dana were in LA Christmas shopping, thankfully, so they watched my other two while mom drove up. JD was working at the hospital replacing/ working on their washer and dryer (not your average sized washer and dryer), he sat with me all day so he wouldn’t miss a thing…I tried to get him to go back to the laundry room to get more work done but he refused. I mean how convenient…I was in Labor and he didn’t have to miss any work….also he was annoying me…just staring at me….we were both so bored… this labor was a snap, especially after I got over the pain they cause when they released the slip stitch tying my cervix closed (cerclage) . Ladies there is a reason for labor pains, cervixes aren’t meant to go from 0 to 7 in 30 seconds flat.

Yesterday we hade the family over for pizza cake and ice cream…. Okay so it was my family, Heather, Hunter, Valette, and the Sargeants…but how much closer could you get to family. Today we are expecting 8 little girls to come over and go ice skating….but not until they shovel the ice rink. We got a lot of snow last night…right after the rain.

They week has flown by I was working on Christmas cards but still haven’t finished them up…I have been doing some shopping….but have not bought any Christmas presents...I have looked at Christmas trees but have yet to buy one…I think this week was meant to sit back and watch. Yesterday was fun I went to Byrd’s class to help make Death Masks (like the mummy’s wore) I have never had such a quiet volunteer job at school, with all their faces covered on casting material, no one could talk let alone see or walk. I was a little nervous being the one responsible for making such a treasured keep sake especially when I noticed who was working beside me….a very talented clay sculptor, a fellow classmate, we spend many hours together in the dark room playing with freeze butt (Mr. Hunts Photography class…perves), our brothers were best friends… Anyway I am thinking I will make face castings with my girl scouts and along with that I may go use Mr. Kriks (it was odd telling kids to go talk to “Mr. Krik”) pottery room he has a kiln and everything!!

Christmas Prep

We are patiently waiting the arrival of Byrd’s birthday so we can move into the Christmas sprit. We will probably start decorating on the 10th. Today JD asked me where I stored the Christmas lights, I was so excited. About six years ago I got JD talked into hanging lights on one of my HUGE spruce trees in the front yard, at that time we talked about each year trying to get anther tree lit up. Those lights are still hanging on that tree, and the rest of the trees remain un-lit. Very year we add another strand or two to the one that gets lit but it never reaches the top of the tree.

This winter I had the pleasure of seeing how our neighbor, Larry, lights his spruce tree. I told JD and how easy it was and he went and had a few words with him, I am under the impression they weren’t good ones. So today when he asked where the lights were I was so happy. He found the lights and proceeded to light the ice rink in the backyard. I guess something is better then nothing. When I mentioned this to JD he went out front and hung a few strands. What a great man…now I wonder if I buy more lights will my tree be lit???

Winter break won’t come until the 22nd for the kids, so I still have time to do my shopping (which I have not started). My cards aren’t out yet, I am still hoping for the opportunity to do a family photo, maybe the cards will be in the mail by Friday.Heath and Erica have found a home of their own, in South Birchwood, a fifteen to twenty minute drive north of LA. Tonight they packed up and moved out, but they forgot Rugar, the poor ol’dog.

I had a job interview last week, for a special education teacher assistant. I am hoping I get it, but believe it will go to the gal that interviewed before me, she is already working at the school.

Upgrade

I think I like this "Beta Blogger" thing....editing posts is so much easier, I can read any post from the edit post page and can access the comments from there also. I can drag links into post I am writing, speeding up my posting time. Also, I can now "Label" my posts, so any stalkers can now look up specific topics. I should have done it earlier.

New Coke Challenge

Last Memorial Day Week (notice I left the "end" off, I here by officate the weekend shall now last at lest 7 days) we had the opportunity to do some little science experiments, JD made explosives (that were a big fizzle), the kids showed us how people made clay many many years ago (that is not turning back into sand pit dust as it ages), Eric proved what temperature oil will catch fire, and Dad showed us the Mentos experiment.

Here is a challenge (its worth the download time, Dad.) ....Memorial Day Weekend 2007 theme should be “Poetry in action” ….…lets see what you can do! WARNING >>>> DO NOT >>>>DO NOT DO THIS!

Happy Thanksgiving…

Looking back to last year...I think some changes have been made… but we all made it through…so this year I am thankful for"Our strength, that gets us through anything."

I still have a lot of cooking to do…. So I though those of you who aren’t into football and who aren’t cooking would enjoy something to do…We are thinking of you all Happy Thanksgiving.

I love YouTube!!

So when did the Army start recruiting Infantry through AK Labor Exchange? When they are paying a whopping $169.80- $0.00 a month, I bet they get a lot of applications.

Transgender Cross Dressers

I just wanted to let you, the internet, know that Cellular One discriminates against transgender cross dressers with female lovers. I am pulling my contract!!!

One Birthday Down And Two To Go

Busy times….we just finished parent teacher conferences and I was very pleased. Everyone brought home good grades and for the most part turning in homework. JD and I errand (yes we EARNED it, sitting for hours re-learning algebra) my “Proud Parent of a Wendler Jr. High School Honor Student.” bumper sticker. I am so proud. Rose (5th grade) is pulling in excellent grades and is known to be a leader in class. Byrd (3rd grade) is pulling good grades although she is constantly talking and not using her time wisely. She is moving to a 5th grade spelling curriculum on Monday and should finish up 4th grade math by the end of the quarter. What brainiacs…I hope they don’t losses their interest in learning. Lord give me the power to continue to motivate them and not NAG them!!

It birthday time so I spent my week running around town. It seems I spent all week shopping, but only because I kept forgetting what I was shopping for, and didn’t know about anything about buying a snow boards. My mind just has not been working, I think it is frozen, negative temperatures in November, makes a girl want to move to the equator.

Thursday night we had a family party for Roses birthday….I am having issues here…I forgot half the family that lives in the area….sorry Valette and Marty and Kianna…I will try to remember in a month when we do this again. Rose got a used/new snow board for her birthday….even though it was used it still set us back a pretty penny but it’s a good starter board.

(family party...and a brown frog cake)

(Thanks grandma the cloths fit perfectly and she loves them...but it did take us a minute to figure out if these were sock or tights...all the grown up girls wanted a pair when they were socks. Rose loves them)

(new snow board)

Friday was a school in-service day….that means my kids have multiplies by four (yes 12 kids)…the house is full! Everyone is entertained, and it is my job to follow them around cleaning up. Heath took the kids sledding but Rose traded her board for a sled. I think she is going to need some motivation to get over the first run with her board. Brittany has offered to teach her…but I think Heath and JD are ready to go buy their own boards so they can be the teachers. JD worked all weekend so maybe after school tomorrow they can go …oh if I find a new part for her binding that JD broke.

(Butch got another balck eye...second since they moved up...this one is Roses fault...sledding)

Yesterday, Rose did a friend party and thank god she has cousins because only two of her school friends showed up…This happen with Tay in 5th grade also….the kids, at this age, are just now so busy with sports and extras that everyone was busy.

(Rose did most of the decorating on the second frog cake...what talent)

Today I was hoping for a quiet day…but JD is working again …I have to go get Rose from Silicon Valley …and I have house guests/family that spent the night….so much for laying around and finishing the Gunslinger series.

Happy Happy Birthday Baby

Right now … 11 years ago….I was on the phone with my husband…telling him …the doctor finally said that I could give birth to Rose, and that she (the Doctor) would pop my water as soon as JD got half way to Anchorage (Soldotna)…my feelings….HURRY UP JOHN I NEED OUT OF THIS HOPSITAL!!!

Guppies

With John’s cat fish eating every cute little fish we put in their tank, we decided to start giving him (the cat fish not John) live feedings. The pet store charges $.20 for a feeder guppy, and I have to go weekly to get them, so we decided to start breeding guppies. I was on-line searching for tips on how to breed Guppies I found that too many people have too much time on their hands and some have taken breeding guppies to a whole new level. Like this GUY

“Harem Breeding

It is not absolutely necessary to separate the sexes if your fish breed true. Saving virgin females is important if you need to be sure of the father of your drops, however, it does take more tanks in order to do this. You may feel that in your breeding program you want more control over choosing parents; it is a choice you must make.

I like to leave a few females in the male tank for them to chase. This way, there are pre-hit females and virgin females available at the same time. I also feel that it is important for developing males to have females around to "practice" on. Young virile males need to vent their urges and the young females, I find, have no problem coping with their advances.”

I have a few questions for this guy….like how can I tell if my fish is a virgin? Or why do they need to “practice” to get a good stock? Does the “Quality” of the sex make a better guppy? What about those salmon that only get to do it once? Maybe if we gave them a chance to “practice” our runs will be stronger.

Last Night...What Fun!

Tay is not too old to enjoy the fun.

Can you guess what she carved?

Rose is learning to use a lighter to lite the pumpkins...but it gives her blisters.
Rose carved a classic design.
Byrd gets into the job.
Byrd carved most of this by herself.
Sissy just starting the job.
Her final product... Heath and I helped some, but Sissy did most of it.

Butch would have nothing to do with the guts, the mere thought of touching them would send him into a fuss.

Butch used a new technique, its the Light Brite version. There are clear pegs (similar to a golf tee) you hammer into the pumpkin, then you use a LED light to light it. It was quick and easy, for those with short attention spans.
The whole bunch of them...completed and ready for the moose to eat...the pumpkins not the kids.

Funny thing

…I decide to go back and see what was happening last year at this time. Today, October 24, 2006 we plan on carving pumpkins…last year, October 24, 2005…I will try to post pictures tonight.

Where’s god?

There are two young brothers and they live in a small little town in Alaska. These two boys are especially bad and are always in trouble. One day the two boys got caught for stealing, their mothers sent them to talk to the town priest.

So the two boys went to talk to the pastor. The pastor asked the smallest child to come in and talk to him. The Pastor sat him down and asked the young child "Do you believe in god?" the young boy answered shyly "yes" so the pastor said asks "Do you know where god is?" the young boy had a puzzled look on his face and said "nope" so the pastor said again "Do you know where god is?" the boy looked back and said "I all ready told you no." so the pastor asked a last time "Do you know where god is?"

At that time the boy ran out the room and to his older brother. The older brother asked "What’s wrong?" the young boy answered "We’re in big trouble now!” The older Brother replied "Oh well, were always in trouble what’s the big deal?" the younger boy answered "Well, now God is missing and they think we've done it."

Special guests

We had some special guests show up at our Girls Scout meeting last night…who knew cooking chicken stir fry in the school art room would set off the fire alarm and that there is no way to call off the fire department?....and NO I was NOT cooking!

Today…

Field trip we tested the water quality of Chester Creek. This portion of the creek is a portion that the city straitened, so it is more of a cannel. I am not sure why they straitened it beside the fact that it runs along the back side of Prevos church/school. The water level today was a little high and we noticed a log jam (cut trees) at the culvert running under Baxter Road. Walking up steam with 3nd graders with higher IQ then most adults I know (Byrds gifted/IGNITE classmates) it was noted that the straightening of the stream was bad for the fish that there was no cut banks or pools for any fish to just hang out in, let alone the invertebrates the fish call food. It was also noted that the trees were sparse on the south side of the stream, just a few select trees separated Prevos back parking lot and the creek, also not good for any life forms in the stream. Remember these are 3rd graders.

As we climb down closer to the creek we found 6 to 8 inches of leaves covering the entire southern bank. In some slower areas of the creak that leaves made false banks, the leaves were that thick. It was interesting not getting wet in this situation. As we finished testing the oxygen level, current speed, temperature, Ph, and organism sample collecting, we climbed back up the bank, as we all reached the top a 3rd graded noted that in a few select places small drainage ditchs ran from the parking lot to the stream and that the grass was clear of leaves and manicured. It appears as if Prevos grounds crews decided not to bag their leaves…I wonder …is that good for the creek…will it help with bank erosion…the city will have to clean it up eventually as it continues to dam up the culverts…

Monday…

Shopping and errands….thanks Donny for the company…I think I did this once with your mom.

Sunday….

Tay had a band test today due by midnight tonight. It was supposed to be done last weekend. No one did it last weekend and so the teacher gave them an extension. Tay has computer software that analyzes her saxophone skills and then assigns a grade to her skills. She then emails the results to the teacher. The teacher just made the saxophone section switch to #3 reeds, which I guess are more difficult to play. Tay is having a little trouble using this new reed and could not get the computer give her a good enough grade. As I was discussing this situation with her and found that last weekend she had tried to fake the system out. She downloaded the practice demo song and played it back to the testing software…she received a zero (the computer knew she cheated) and she did not email the results in. I know what you are all thinking that I promised Tay I would not blog about her any more. But this time I am allowed to talk to you, I even told her I was going to do it…because she cheated….she “hummed” the test song and doubled her previous saxophone score…and emailed the results. I was impress that the voice lessons helped in some way. But now I guess I better so some research on this issue… the ways kids cheat have come a long way since I was a kid. She promised the sax would come home more often and that see will ace her next test.

We went shopping today…a much needed break from chores…we had to barrow Shanas rig to get there…everyone got something new but me… Mom thanks Butch and Sissy played with the gift you sent….JD has found a new way to feed us al winter. So if I loose weight talk to him.

Saturday…

Rose mowed up the leaves and earned ten bucks. Byrd and Tay fought all day. I cleaned Poop. Butch and Sissy played with Lou Lou. Heath scrubbed the back of the house sparkling white again. JD swapped tires and patched the roof . So with the chores done we ate dinner and went to the Baxter’s for drinks …

Some Good Hard Work

I had a great time this weekend with Roses Girl Scout Troop we volunteered for National Parks Day. Something we will defiantly do again next year. Our project was to help create a new trail in the Campbell Airstrip trail system. Our project was a new trail opposite the head of the Smoke Jumpers Trail. It was our job to haul the pre-cut trees away from the trail. Although, we did get a chance to do some shovel work, some girls had trouble focusing on one job for three hours. It was a nice clear morning and an eight am carpool time doesn’t work for 5th graders all we heard was I am cold, I am hungry, I am tired...and the ever so popular "I AM BORED". Only four of the nine girls were prepared, not good…good thing GS doesn’t have a “no child left behind” policy. Not only were they not prepared, but they knew nothing about “Leave No Trace” one girls kept leaving a soda can laying around. Seeing how we were surrounded by 100’s of naturalist (not the nude kind) it was not a good thing. During the three hours I had to harass 6 of the 9 girls to get them to do anything, also a leaders failure…what about Considerate and caring, Respect Authority, and make the world a better place. Despite all the nagging I had a great time. I was proud of Rose what a worker bee. She and I make a good team and we really enjoy getting out there and physically help out the community. And some good hard work is a great way to get stuff off your mind. I can’t wait till clean up day….come on MAY….I am waiting for you!!!

PS ... I think I smelled snow today...

…I do believe

Butch falls off a chair, hit the floor screaming like someone had ripped off his arm. His mom jumps up to assess the injuries. Seeing no blood, scratches, or bruising she asks “What did you hit?” Sissy yells “THE FLOOR…MOM!”

Heath came home with a question, one if his ranger buddy’s asked of to him….Why are Marines always on Navy Ships?

I have worked on getting my workouts in. Started with just walking the kids to school and this weeks goal is to work out every other day.

We have been fitting a nasty bug in the house. As each kid goes through it so do I.

Another attempt to quit smoking…starting today!

The fight for the internet and phone has been on going. Leonardo is being stalked!!

Oh yeah I am not allowed to talk about Tays boobs, boy situations, or Junior High encounters any more!! But I did learn a very important Junior High rule…under no circumstances am I allowed to approach her if she is talking with friends.

AWANAS started last night. Sissy is excited about going and about becoming a Spark. Byrd is happy she is no longer a Spark and is excited about earning her new T-Shirt. Rose lead the first Bible Verse Practice last night and Butch seems to want to get involved. I think he is just in it for the Derby Car Race. Tay contributed nicely by changing the AWANA songs into morbid songs about brain washing kids. ACK!!!

My Uncle Bill’s got a blog…for the longest time my husband has been hearing stories about Uncle Bill. Amazing stories…stories of life that seem well…like my father (Bills Brother) made them up. The stories varied from Uncle Bills mysterious disappearing, too his romantic encounters in truck stop bathrooms, too his research trips to rodeos looking for a long lost brother. It didn’t help matters much when Bill was supposed to be in town we never saw him and his trips were always called short. JD would hear stories from my nephew Butch about how Uncle Bill was driving trucks in Iraq for the Salvation Army. It was little things that led to his doubt.

I never really believed my husbands disbelieve in Uncle Bill, until one night…. JD came home from work and I had a black lab… JD told me that we weren’t keeping it and my boyfriend was going to need another dog sitter. I told him that Uncle Bill was driving trucks from Alaska to Seattle and we were going to dog sit, while Uncle Bill did his ride along, and that we were really just watching it….the only thing he said was “I don’t believe in Uncle Bill and the dog has a week.” A week went by and lucky for me JD was home when Uncle Bill came to get his dog…the rest of the evening JD would simply state over and over ... “…I do believe in Uncle Bill.”

Fall Is Here

Well hello again…I know that this is beginning to be a problem…me not bloging on a regular basis…but I am trying. I could be like Bossco who never writes us anymore. With the new school schedule I can‘t play first thing in the morning and by the time the girls are gone I am out of my bloging mood. I am working on a schedule and hopefully it will include more bloging time and a JOB.

Girl Scouts has also started. I have been writing parent letters, calendars, and planning out our year…another thing to blame for lack of bloging time.

We have house guests…I am not sure I have told the internet yet. My brother and sister-in-law, niece, and nephew are staying with us. They are in the process of moving upto the big city and we are their transition home. They can also be to blame for the lack of bloging time.

My girls, nephew and niece are all settled in school and getting back to the school schedule….sometimes I feel like a nag…but when the schedule is in place life is so much simpler. The kids now get up eat, pack lunches, and get dress with hardly any fight. Butch even takes baths. After school it’s straight to snack, homework, play time, dinner, playtime, and then bed. Even the dishes are getting done. The schedule is working out and we are learning to live as a 9 member household. I am not to sure the neighbors enjoy the extra dogs….but we are working on that.

Butch (my nephew) has a habit of picking on my girls. He follows Tay around saying “DR. phttp *insert raspberry here*” ...this is creating a huge problem for her. With Rose he sits n the couch and kicks at her, not hard, just enough to annoy her. I ask them casually “Now you sure you want a brother?” they both reply “NO…at least not one like him.” I just giggle and tell them that is the only model available, Model #005 annoying little brother.

Poor Sissy (my niece), my children think she is a baby, yet she is only 10 months younger then my youngest. Finally Sissy called Byrd on it, she really told her off. Hopefully my girls will pick up on the fact that Butch and Sissy have parents.

I found a great deal so I picked up an extra bike the other day. I was hoping Sissy would see everyone else doing it and just start. It didn’t work but she loves Tays adult sized tricycle, so if it works for her it works for me.

Butch has been riding his bike to school everyday. The first few days of school that was the main motivation to for going to school. Hopefully once winter hits we can get him to give up his bike. This morning while walking to school, the first fall leaves are starting to pile up in the gutters along the road, the nice fresh kind the ones not quite crunchy. Butch was riding his bike and was a few houses ahead of us. He stops lays his bike in a neighbors yard. The next thing we know is rolling in the piles of fallen leaves. After seeing his enjoyment we all could not resist stopping to play.

Taxes

As soon as we bought our home I have saved every receipt so that I may get every tax deduction owned to me. Paying mortgage interest allows us to take the itemized deduction on our federal tax returns. Along with deducting my mortgage interest and property taxes, I deduct the cost of donations. I write off any Girl Scout supplies or school snacks that I pay for. I keep track of how much money I spend on fund rising items (like Boy Scout popcorn, Ends brook wrapping paper, football candy bars, and of course Girl Scout cookies); you can deduct the percent to the purchase price that goes to the charity. My uniform costs, leader books, and even mileage I use for fieldtrips. I deduct the used items I donate to the charity.

Medical deductions are pretty much worthless for my family we never meet the minimum requirements. So I really don’t bother.

Any state tax is deductible on a federal tax return. Most Alaskan thinks nope I don’t pay no state tax…but you do… stud tax you on new winter tires and what about that portion of your vehicle registration that goes to taxes. Do you pay into unemployment? It is a state tax.

I know you are thinking …Why is she thinking taxes? Well, what about the taxes that show up on my phone bills? They call it Telephone Cooperative Tax? Or what about Electric Cooperative Tax? Or the Alcoholic Beverage Tax? Motor Fuel Tax (8 cents/gallon)? A percent of the purchase price of my cigarettes ($1.60/pack of 20) are going to the state….so I was thinking I am gonna write shit off. $1.60 in taxes daily equals $569.60 deduction …times two because John smokes also…another $1139.20….

Hostage Situation

I ran to the local print shop tonight, because my trusty Cannon printer that uses really cheap ink died and I have failed to use the $50.00 needed for the Epson printer ink that will run out as soon as it is installed, oh anyway, I ran to the print shop tonight because Tay has a paper due tomorrow and it had to be typed.

As I entered the print shop there were two suspicious characters hanging around just outside the door. I went straight to the front counter for help; this is all a very new experience for me. We head over to my work area and pop my disk into the computer and start my task of printing. The young lady helping me knew nothing and could not get the proper document to open. I take over and open my document and hit print … then I hear it, squeals, I am not sure what to think so I turn and as I do I see two guns. The two suspicious kids out front had pulled their weapons and shots were going to be fired over a small barrier they were hiding behind. A manager that looked like she could be as young as a few of my nephews or even a niece was stationed herself by the door to await the authorities. But the seven of us were stuck, there was no way out without getting hit by any crossfire.

As we tried to sit and wait it out the situation got pretty scary there was a lot shots being fired and screaming, but you could not make out what they wanted. And then everything gets quiet, it appears that the punks ran out of ammo. As we approach the door to see if they have fled or if police had things under control, that’s when we notice the other kid had hid behind a corner and more shots were fired, at us. As we all took cover again in the back far corners of the print shop more screams could be heard but not screams of pain but ones of laughter. We knew if we did not do something soon the younger punk would surly reload.

Next thing we know they leap over the barrier and are at the door, what could we do we were trapped. Then our young store manager came to the rescue, she got the doors locked just in time. She then leaped behind a workstation just as they start shooting the door, it was only a mater of time before they were getting inside, then what? These rebels were going to just keep coming and nothing was going to calm them down. There seemed to be no reason for them to target any of us, they seemed to be doing it just for fun for amusement. And I have to admit it was a pretty exciting being on the middle of such a conflict and in no way did that help my judgment.

With the perpetrators locked outside it was the perfect time to make my way to the door to have a look at what was going on outside. As I approach the door I can hear the authorities’ rustlings about. I peer out the small opening by the door I can see one of the two gunmen; he had retreated back to the barrier. He was banging his gun against the barrier real mean like. Not knowing much about guns, I was thinking his gun must be jammed or that he was out of his mind and was throwing a temper tantrum about being out of ammo. I saw no others, no patrol man, no rubber-neckers, and no second gunman. I had to get a closer look so I eased the door open, just a bit, just to take a peek, I no sooner had enough room to get a look with one eye ….I was shot…I watched the shot coming directly at my left eye.

I stumble back not feeling any pain; I was more so shocked that the gunman had tricked us again by hiding in the shadows. And the fact that the second gunman shot me, with great skill, through a ¼ inch opening and hit her target precisely where she intended. I knew this was now serious, other lives were at stake, and the realization that help was not on the way hit me hard. So without thinking I regained my balance and charged out the door.

I tried to take out both suspects at once but just as the door slams behind me the young lady with the loaded weapon steps aside and lays her finger hard onto the trigger with a howl of laughter. As I hear and feel the shots hitting me and the walls behind me, I make contact with the other gunman. We roll to the ground, a tackle that and ball player would be proud of. With myself on top, I reach for the gun that is held tightly in this young mans hands. Hoping with all my soul that his gun was just jammed earlier and the tackle may have helped jar something loose. I get the gun and turn towards the young lady gunman. I shoot….Nothing…the guns jammed. I start to feel wetness running down the right side of may face and soaking into my clothes. I turn to see the second gun not two feet from my face. I hear laughter as I see the trigger finger twitch. As she pulls the trigger she steps forward and I am able to grab her gun and pull her towards me avoiding a direct hit. I wrap my hands around her upper arm and pull her on top of the tangle of bodies already on the ground. Then I remember my secret weapons…my ticklers. I aim straight for the ribs no messing around here I was going for the immobilizing my attackers.

As I get my fingers close to them they cringe in fear and laugh with great amusement. Buddy bellows and Nat is giggling with tears down her face. They knew that water guns were not going to hold their hostages any longer and that bedtime was inevitable.

Rain Rain Go Away

I could use a few more days like this....where did our summer go?

Before we head out we must pay homage to Arnie. Then we head to the Angler for coffee and the first signs of daylight befor we launch.
As Daylight hits so do the fish.
Our captain a true natural. He can catch fish in a mud puddle. If he says fishing is slow you better get out there because he is wanting a nice quiet spot when he limits out.

These fellow fisher men were really far away, but with my sister in-laws camera that is really awasome I could see what they were drinking...she let me use it during this trip....but it took three months to get copies of my pictures.

Here we are getting borded waiting for fish...also this is the only good picture out of say thousands....
