Words cannot express our concern and anxiety for "our" Taylor as well as the entire family. Just go knowing that you have our support and we will be here for all of you to provide any assistance that you need. Just keep in mind that we can come to Anchorage anytime or if you need help down south - that can be arranged as well.
It is exciting and very scary. We finally got Tay in the right frame of mind so it time to getter' done. We will be down in Oregon for a week then fly home for four. Sometime after the first of June we will fly back down for intense physical therapy if all goes well it will be only a week. We have not heard back from the school about how she will finished the school year. I am hoping a two weeks of doing school work at home, then she can go back to school for the end of the year... the social thing ya' know. Shrinner has a school room and teachers, but I don't think she will be willing to do class work right after surgery. We will see what the school says and how she feels and if I can even get her into a car. I guess her going to school also depends on the new wheelchair and if she can push it her self. Right now my mind is on how the hell am I gonna get her around town, to Dr and PT appointments. She stole my pants the other day (and they fit)so I think she must weigh about as much as me, then you put TWO 20lb of full leg casts; she my be pushing 160lbs. No way can I lift her and with four cut bones she will only be doing pivot transfers, no walking. John is researching mini vans...I am sad my pretty white Chevy being traded for a handicap accessible van. I haven't yet told Tay they they are making her fly home and back down on a gurney (Airline Policy)...I do hope they plan on tying the gurney down in the cabin of the plane and not with the baggage. There are still some details we are working out but I have faith that it will work out for the best.
How exciting and scary! Will Tay get to finish the school year?
