"Do you really believe what you believe is really real?", there is some awesome conversation going on over at Tabitha's surrounding that question. I don't believe the question was meant to open debate between us about religions, but solely a question to ask your self, "Do you really believe what you believe is really real?". I am going to take the question one step further...in relation to the definition of Believe, which meaning defines your views about your god and why?

"to have a firm conviction as to the goodness, efficacy, or ability of..." (GOD)
ReplyDeleteFor along time it might have been one of the other descriptions of "believe" but after several events of answered prayers and other incredible things He does that specifically effect Marty and I, my faith has completely gone to a new level. If I had any doubt before as to whether God really does exist, it's long been replaced with conviction.
Great post Heidi!
I can't take credit for the post, I only wanted to bring to the blogger crowd. I commented on Tabitha's but I am still mulling the question, wondering if what I wrote is the my best explanation. I think I will have to continue asking myself this question.
ReplyDeleteHeidi-how can i post pictures to my
ReplyDeleteblog site? Uncle Bill
On the tool bar, right above where you post, where you change you post font, on the right side next to spell check is a square that looks like a picture... Click it...it should bring up a pop up window that allows you to down load. Let me know if you need more.
ReplyDeleteSome of my happiest memories as a child were either in church or a church event. My mom played piano for them and we sang all the time. Dad was in the army and we went from fort to fort and since we were Protestant/not-Catholic we got all kinds of Ministers. Baptist, Methodist, anything but Catholic.
ReplyDeleteNow do I believe? YES! Do I go to church now? No. Do I pray? Yes.
Was that the question? I'm a little loopy right now.
To me, belief is total conviction without a doubt. Everyone can form an opinion of something, but, to believe is to know in your mind and heart.
ReplyDeleteRemember a few (6?) years back when a teacher was ridiculed for saying a prayer in class on a regular basis? Many had claimed they "..did not want a teacher forcing her beliefs on their kids.." using separation of church and state, etc. for reasoning.
The two "mooks", Bob and Mark (KWHL 106.5 FM) commented that, if you think a prayer can change the way you or your family "believes", maybe you need to look at your own life and decide if you really "believe" or not. To have your mind changed so suddenly would not be belief at all - but, opinion.
