What did Earnest sell before he made movies? "Vern, Vern , Vern... When will you earn?"

  1. That phrqase, "Vern, Vern, Vern is that you" is still used when we joke about my father, Brother Dons favorite memic line - I do not remember him really having a national known product to advertise, it was normally a local thing but I do remember him advertising a soft drink, like Sprite?

  2. According to the IMDb, Jim Varney did a few TV shows and ton of commercials as Ernest P. Worrell before getting his own movie.

And when did you get a Flickr account?

  3. I did find that he did a non-smoking commercial, Kroger groceries, and Milk; but have not found reference to that tag line. It sounds like it maybe the non-smoking commercial, I kinda remember that one... but I really remember my Dad walking with Josh (when he was a new born) at night repeating that line as Josh wails. So maybe dad made it up.

Valette - I got a flicker account shortly after the camera...I just got the links up the past week.

  4. "Vern, Vern Vern" was always used in his commercials, he was an imaginary person that he was talking to, you never saw Vern. That line is what propelled him into popularity. Just like "Where's the Beef"? who was that little old lady? Rule of thrumb is that prior to posting a trivia question - you really should know the answer! Although, I do not know the lady in the Wendy's Commercial about "where's the beef", but this is not a posting, it is comment so I do not have to know! Why do think that my factual information is "always made up" 0h, I forgot Hyperbole Prattle!

  5. He DID play in a commercial with the old beef lady for Wendy's - but only after his debut on tv commercials. "Vern, Vern, Vern, when will you learn" was for the anti-smoking ads.
