Well hello again

… did you notice it has only been a few days and yet I privilege you with another post. Let’s start with Rose and her tadpoles… I think they are doing good there are still 10 of them and their legs are growing like mad. There is one though, that is growing a HUGE air bubble under his chin, the optimist in me is thinking it is his “Croaker” pouch, but I think he may be suffering from some thing else. Speaking of frogs you must check out this blog.

Tonight we are expecting house guest again, last week we had 4 unexpected visors and tonight I am unsure of when or even who will show up…but I can deal with that ‘cause I am hoping to score some free Godsmack tickets out of the deal. It is kind of nice having so many out of town visitors.

Today, the girls and I went and got some fresh lake water and a few more plants for the tadpoles; and since we were already at Goose Lake we decided to take advantage of the SUN, yes I said SUN!!! Yes Mother Nature was finally in a SUNNY mood… not partly Sunny, not partly cloudy… but SUNNY!!! The girls enjoyed swimming and building sand castles and I laid back and finished another book and soaked up some skin cancer. I am a happy mom, and then I heard that the weather is about to change again (so says Jacky on Channel 2). I wish Mother Nature would quit being moody, maybe, do you think it could be menopause?

Lately I have been asking the girls for reading material. Last it week it was The Last of the Really Great Wangdoodles (recomended by Rose and Byrd), this week it was The Princess Bride and Stoner and Spaz (recommended by Tay). Everyone knows The Princess Bride but Stoner and Spaz was a new one to Tay and I. When we hit the library yesterday it practically jumped off the shelf. It is a great read if you are dealing with Cerebral Palsy and issues of a teen. It is about a 16 year old boy with CP coming out of his shell. It really put some thing into perspective for me… like DRUGS, SEX, and how difficult it is for a kid like Tay to find their “clicks” if they are even lucky enough. It really opened the door for some good discussions between Tay and I. Tay told me today, she needs to start writing her own book, an autobiography, I agree, there aren’t too many books written from a CP kids point of view

I am about to start a Dean Koontz book about a disabled little girl with psycho parents called One Door Away from Heaven. I haven’t read Koontz for a awhile now, his books were beginning to become the same ‘ol same ‘ol… I hope he does not disappoint me this time… or else I am going BACK to the Junior Section.

Trips to Goose Lake and reading is not all that’s been going on … I can now reach a $1,000 game on Solitaire … with no problem…. SOMEONE PLEASE TAKE ME TO VEGAS!!!!

  1. bet the bon-bons melt in the sun!!!Their is a federal funded program called Young Authors of America...this progam does the work...all Tay would have to do is write the story...if they like it they publish it and she gets royalties...my ex-neice did this when she was in elementary school and is still collecting royalties on her book...not alot but she only wrote one book...then figured out Hooters pays better!!!Go for it Tay...I will be one of your "profreaders".

  2. Hey, you were not the only one with sun today, but ours came with some heavy wind but it was still sunny so I will take it. I also took a little nap down at Central Lake at the HITWRA, it is starting to feel the wrath of the greenhouse gas and shrinking so I had to keep moving my blanket down the beach as the water receded. Between the receding water, the squawking magpies, and trying to figure out what is hanging from the perfect birch tree, I did not have time to read. Remember last night when a particular mother in law went to jail - I bring the subject of jail up only to remind everyone that Alaska has very strict laws involving the taking of indiginous (sic)fish, animals, and birds from their natural habitat and re-introducing those same to a new envirnoment. Now, I would not be one to tell my granddaughters that they cannot remove a few little frogs and raise them for biological education and evaluation, in fact I would help them capture the little rascals. However, I would draw the line when the eventual reason for the capture and raising was to keep them until they are edible size. If everyone did this, evenetually we would have to have a emergency closure on "frog fishing". That is exactly what happened to the King Crab in Kachemak Bay, the Dungeness Crab in K-Bay and the Shrimp in K-Bay, people would capture them, take them home as pets and end up eating them and that is not right, you should never eat a pet! A pattern is starting to show here, JD lived in Homer, now all the shellfish are gone, he moved to Anchroage and in one weekend, caught the majority of the 24 inch Rianbow Trout that the hatchery had in stock - now he is starting on the frogs! I know that you and the girls have no intention of eating your pet frogs, but I would have to ask, why is JD advertising for recipes for frog legs on the internet? You might want to start keeping count of the froggies. By the way, what happened to your fish that you had in the aquariam? Don't tell me he built a smoke house!

    1 : a person who blathers a lot

  7. You sure get a lot of mileage out of one posting! Well, spank me I dropped a "t" in my new word! Didn't you ever drop a "t" in a word - why are you so critical? By the way old wise one, the definition that you gave is for "blather" not blatherskite. The correct definition is "a talkative, foolish, person". Most of the news people will fall undere this definition. The last time I showed you Las Vegas, you got me in trouble by going through the casino's arm in arm and we got caught by Simone Clutts from Anchor Point! She did not know you and she thought she had caught me with a "bimbo". We live in a small world! Of course, with your midriff blouse, hot pants and high heels, what else was she to expect?
