End Campment

Encampment has come to an end, Byrd came home last night with her troop and Rose showed up at 9:30 this morning (I guess the leaders we anxious to get home). All of the girls had a blast and want to go back, even the cranky ones that refuse to have fun the whole time. Another succesful GS event and many fun memories.

Encampment

The girls are having fun at camp, they made, bird houses that look like racing cars, beaded necklaces, tie dying, and rockets.
The girls at camp have a new tent, THANKS POPE! I brought it out last night and set it up, we forgot to lay a ground cloth before we staked in the bottom, poor Caity, had to crawl under the tent (that the leaders were to lazy to un-stake), to stretch out the ground cloth (tarp).... after we ate dinner and went to the talent show, swapped our SWAPS, and had a dance with a great DJ. I danced so much and laughed so hard. What a great night!!! I left around 11pm and the girls were still having fun.

Brave New Girls

I sent the young two girls and my Girl Scout Troops off to Encampment yesterday morning, by noon I was getting phone call for more line (rope) for storm lashing. Two years ago we dealt with heat stroke this year wind.
Around 4:30, yesterday, I headed out to bring the younger troop some dinner. I found WIND, so much wind that brand new tents were being ripped to shreds, the zippers were being pulled apart even with the tent windows open, cook stoves would not stay lit, and tent stakes would not stay in the ground. I found hungry cold adults and children loving it. Tonight, I will bring out new tents, blankets, gloves, hats, and cocoa.

My two are venturing just fine due to the fact we just spent 10 days outside in similar weather. Hope the adult volunteers don't hate me when this is over.

Byrd

Yesterday was Byrd’s birthday, (I would have posted sooner but I spent the day making death masks with her class mates) my baby is now NINE, I wonder where all the time has passed. Seems like yesterday I was calling my mom letting her know Byrd was coming a day ahead of schedule. The doctor had us scheduled for a Tuesday delivery when Byrd decided she couldn’t wait another day. Mom was going to join us so she could watch Rose and Tay while I was in the hospital. Shane and Dana were in LA Christmas shopping, thankfully, so they watched my other two while mom drove up. JD was working at the hospital replacing/ working on their washer and dryer (not your average sized washer and dryer), he sat with me all day so he wouldn’t miss a thing…I tried to get him to go back to the laundry room to get more work done but he refused. I mean how convenient…I was in Labor and he didn’t have to miss any work….also he was annoying me…just staring at me….we were both so bored… this labor was a snap, especially after I got over the pain they cause when they released the slip stitch tying my cervix closed (cerclage) . Ladies there is a reason for labor pains, cervixes aren’t meant to go from 0 to 7 in 30 seconds flat.

Yesterday we hade the family over for pizza cake and ice cream…. Okay so it was my family, Heather, Hunter, Valette, and the Sargeants…but how much closer could you get to family. Today we are expecting 8 little girls to come over and go ice skating….but not until they shovel the ice rink. We got a lot of snow last night…right after the rain.

They week has flown by I was working on Christmas cards but still haven’t finished them up…I have been doing some shopping….but have not bought any Christmas presents...I have looked at Christmas trees but have yet to buy one…I think this week was meant to sit back and watch. Yesterday was fun I went to Byrd’s class to help make Death Masks (like the mummy’s wore) I have never had such a quiet volunteer job at school, with all their faces covered on casting material, no one could talk let alone see or walk. I was a little nervous being the one responsible for making such a treasured keep sake especially when I noticed who was working beside me….a very talented clay sculptor, a fellow classmate, we spend many hours together in the dark room playing with freeze butt (Mr. Hunts Photography class…perves), our brothers were best friends… Anyway I am thinking I will make face castings with my girl scouts and along with that I may go use Mr. Kriks (it was odd telling kids to go talk to “Mr. Krik”) pottery room he has a kiln and everything!!

Special guests

We had some special guests show up at our Girls Scout meeting last night…who knew cooking chicken stir fry in the school art room would set off the fire alarm and that there is no way to call off the fire department?....and NO I was NOT cooking!

Some Good Hard Work

I had a great time this weekend with Roses Girl Scout Troop we volunteered for National Parks Day. Something we will defiantly do again next year. Our project was to help create a new trail in the Campbell Airstrip trail system. Our project was a new trail opposite the head of the Smoke Jumpers Trail. It was our job to haul the pre-cut trees away from the trail. Although, we did get a chance to do some shovel work, some girls had trouble focusing on one job for three hours. It was a nice clear morning and an eight am carpool time doesn’t work for 5th graders all we heard was I am cold, I am hungry, I am tired...and the ever so popular "I AM BORED". Only four of the nine girls were prepared, not good…good thing GS doesn’t have a “no child left behind” policy. Not only were they not prepared, but they knew nothing about “Leave No Trace” one girls kept leaving a soda can laying around. Seeing how we were surrounded by 100’s of naturalist (not the nude kind) it was not a good thing. During the three hours I had to harass 6 of the 9 girls to get them to do anything, also a leaders failure…what about Considerate and caring, Respect Authority, and make the world a better place. Despite all the nagging I had a great time. I was proud of Rose what a worker bee. She and I make a good team and we really enjoy getting out there and physically help out the community. And some good hard work is a great way to get stuff off your mind. I can’t wait till clean up day….come on MAY….I am waiting for you!!!

PS ... I think I smelled snow today...

Fall Is Here

Well hello again…I know that this is beginning to be a problem…me not bloging on a regular basis…but I am trying. I could be like Bossco who never writes us anymore. With the new school schedule I can‘t play first thing in the morning and by the time the girls are gone I am out of my bloging mood. I am working on a schedule and hopefully it will include more bloging time and a JOB.

Girl Scouts has also started. I have been writing parent letters, calendars, and planning out our year…another thing to blame for lack of bloging time.

We have house guests…I am not sure I have told the internet yet. My brother and sister-in-law, niece, and nephew are staying with us. They are in the process of moving upto the big city and we are their transition home. They can also be to blame for the lack of bloging time.

My girls, nephew and niece are all settled in school and getting back to the school schedule….sometimes I feel like a nag…but when the schedule is in place life is so much simpler. The kids now get up eat, pack lunches, and get dress with hardly any fight. Butch even takes baths. After school it’s straight to snack, homework, play time, dinner, playtime, and then bed. Even the dishes are getting done. The schedule is working out and we are learning to live as a 9 member household. I am not to sure the neighbors enjoy the extra dogs….but we are working on that.

Butch (my nephew) has a habit of picking on my girls. He follows Tay around saying “DR. phttp *insert raspberry here*” ...this is creating a huge problem for her. With Rose he sits n the couch and kicks at her, not hard, just enough to annoy her. I ask them casually “Now you sure you want a brother?” they both reply “NO…at least not one like him.” I just giggle and tell them that is the only model available, Model #005 annoying little brother.

Poor Sissy (my niece), my children think she is a baby, yet she is only 10 months younger then my youngest. Finally Sissy called Byrd on it, she really told her off. Hopefully my girls will pick up on the fact that Butch and Sissy have parents.

I found a great deal so I picked up an extra bike the other day. I was hoping Sissy would see everyone else doing it and just start. It didn’t work but she loves Tays adult sized tricycle, so if it works for her it works for me.

Butch has been riding his bike to school everyday. The first few days of school that was the main motivation to for going to school. Hopefully once winter hits we can get him to give up his bike. This morning while walking to school, the first fall leaves are starting to pile up in the gutters along the road, the nice fresh kind the ones not quite crunchy. Butch was riding his bike and was a few houses ahead of us. He stops lays his bike in a neighbors yard. The next thing we know is rolling in the piles of fallen leaves. After seeing his enjoyment we all could not resist stopping to play.

The First Day of School

The first day of school went great. The JR high gets out 45 minutes earlier then the elementary school so it gave Tay and I some time to chat before the others got home. She had some locker problems but a cute boy helped her out with that, you should have seen her grin as she told me. Her school terrorist retired which is great news for me, and her new therapist has worked with her before and we love him!! Her science teacher is going to get her out of her study skills class and put her in another science program. She loves the staff and the school. She had an issue with some girls she grew up with, something about going to JR high changes girls…snobs!!!

Rose and Byrd spent the day catching up with their friends. Byrd ended up bringing home most of her class work to finish up. She said she couldn’t do it in class because everyone kept talking and annoying her. I hope this is not going to be a pattern, her teacher this year is pretty strict and I don’t want to be called in all the time. Rose was a little disappointed in her teachers this year, not because of the teacher but because she has been separated from her fiends. Her teachers (her two teachers job share, one comes in the morning the other afternoon) is the same one Tay had for the last two years and I am worried that their teaching style isn’t right for Rose, we will see how that goes. I hope they don’t expect Rose to be a Tay because she is not a brown nosing child she is more of a class clown.

I enjoyed a day of relaxation. I spent the day in bed reading the third book in the “Dark Towers” series (Stephen King)…boy am I hooked. Today I think I will go have coffee with my sister and wait for my brother to call…they were supposed to be here last night but never showed. I should be getting started on Girl Scouts but the motivation is just not there. Tomorrow we are having a planning meeting maybe that will motivate me.

MOM I used a Tampon

I have just been chaperoning kids …had a few extra’s this week, looks like summer boredom has kicked in. All the school friends (or their parents) are calling and scheduling time, usually because summer programs are coming to a close and I am a really good back up babysitter…I really should start charging.

It was way too hot on Thursdays and now it is cloudy again. We did get a chance to dig the pool out and Byrd had fun with several kids (thanks for the entertainment Sargents). aMandy and Byrd had came up with several skits so I sat most of the afternoon watching. Our campfire talent shows have followed me home. Byrds new dream is to sing on Americas Got Talent…my kids aren’t going to college they are gonna be the winners of some reality show…for Tay it will be “Hells Kitchen”…Rose will be “Fear Factor”…and Byrd “America’s Got Talent”… me I think “Treasure Hunter” and JD …hmmm …hopefully “Deal or NO Deal”

JD went and played with the Baxter’s yesterday morning; Shana secured TWO auditions for the “Deal or No Deal” show. She had to spend the night at the Diamond Center but she got Eric and John auditions, they were number 5 and 6. I guess they got 5 Seconds to say something to get them on TV …..not much time…hopefully someone I know will make it in.

JD and the BIG nephews went on more fishing trips this weekend….lower Campbell Creek yesterday and who knows where today…maybe it will work out for them and the smoker will be smoking some silvers.

Tay had a friend over last night and has had a very social week, entailing of many friends, lots of video games, a trip to see the pirate movie, and several walks with her friends. Currently, she and I are in the mix of planning school shopping. Tay has been down for a few weeks, her friend (and my “I sure wish you were mine” child) Rukiya IS moving to Texas, we are all bummed about that…but it could be a month or it could be a year.

Byrd is off in Cantwell camping with friends. Before she left I warned her how Cantwell is not a good place for some (I have never had the privilege of going there) so hopefully they will have a good trip and not have any mishaps.

We picked up Rose from Girl Scout Camp last night. She had a blast learning to kayak (at Ekultna Lake) and canoe in the camp lake. They had a floating breakfast on the lake one morning; I think she really liked that. They saw two Horned Squirrels…or were they horny…not sure which…but she said they were enjoying themselves, so she got pictures. But the very first story I hear is “MOM I used a Tampon…..but it was too big for my nose.”

Never laugh when a hearse goes by...

…. for you will be the next to die…

I didn’t mean too… but as it drove up to the stop light, while we were gassing up. We started discussing a mortician’s job; next thing I hear is “They also suck the fluids out of the body.” And then Trevah … astonished says “WHAT ...WITH THEIR MOUTH???”…..

I couldn’t help but roar with laughter!!!!

6th Grade Graduation

What a couple of weeks… The last meeting/s of Girl Scouts (Byrd’s Troop) went well. We had a great end of the year awards BBQ and all went smoothly. Amongst, planning an Awards ceremony for 13 girls and their families I spent my days with my sister’s two toddlers (Lou and Buddy). I am now SURE there will be no more kid raised under my roof. What a handful!!! The Babies and I spent the majority of the time at school enjoying the last few days of school and all of the activities that they shove into a week. Although the picnics were fun and all, my highlight was watching my oldest daughter Graduate from elementary school.

Monday evening Tay and I spent 3 hours shopping for a dress to wear at graduation, the poor girl (after learning with Bratt-Knee) I had to say NO to every dress out there…. Too short, no straps, to low cut. A few of the dresses were perfect…but all the nice things about them disappeared when you are sitting in a wheelchair. I never thought about this aspect of her being in a chair… but we found that not every dress looks right when you are sitting. Finally we found on for $9.99…WHAT A DEAL!!! This allowed her to get a new pair of shoes. I tried to talk her into getting some my size, since she is not walking her shoes do not need to fit and I could always use a new pair of sandals, but it didn’t work she saw right through my plan!!! Oh well!

For shock effect and to display her independence or her individualisms…Tay talk JD into allowing her to add a bit of color to her hair. So Tuesday night, Tay and I sat down and added red, BRIGHT red streaks in her hair. We put two in the front and then died the ends. As school the next day she had many complements. Tay’s kindergarten teacher gave me a funny look and made a polite comment about it. I guess she thought I was a little more conservative then that. Although I did not totally approve of the die thing, JD was not either, I do not regret letting her do it. In fact I feel as if it was a stepping stone for her…”DARE TO BE DIFFERENT.”…”LOOK AT ME” … her first baby step into becoming her own person. As I remember it…. Jr High was the start to figuring out who I was.

(not a very good picture...but the red up front is braided and pulled back)

Yesterday at Tay’s graduation, her speech went well. Two kids from each classroom introduced their teachers she was articulate and used lots of big words. She did her speech with a young man. We will call him “the silver child” This young man will break many mothers’ hearts, as he would be the perfect man for any daughter. Just look how my child looks at him. I wonder????? He likes to be called “Golden Child” but he got demoted silver last night around ten; when Tay and her friends pranked called him and he hung up on them when he found out who it was, he said we was trying to sleep.

(Tay and "The Golden Child")

As the teachers introduced each child (somewhere around 60 kids) they would say something about their school career, when it was Tay’s turn to get her certificate the teacher went on and on and on….I guess they really liked Tay. All of the teachers kept teasing her that she was such a joy to have as a student and so smart that she should just bypass the next 10 years of school and come teach at the elementary school. I feel for the kid that was recognized for spelling “yacht” …that poor child, even I can spell that!

Tay looked so mature in her dress. I just wish I had noticed just how much cleavage was visible with this dress. It was not the dress it, which was very conservative…. It was those boobs she inherited from JD’s side of the family. When everyone says she looks like Valette, it’s not just the blonde hair. I can blame JD’s side of the family because I didn’t get my boobies until 8th grade. Hopefully the other two will be late developers like I was!!

(Tay and Nokia - Best Friends Forever)

So with one child in JR high … I feel like …. Well not so young …. Where has the time gone??? Will she be ready for the real life in 6 years????

!EM KNAPS

So our neighbor Bob did not appreciate JD’s humor…. JD wrote “!EM KNAPS” (well, his letters were backwards) with window marker, on the bug guard of his Ford Explorer. JD was hoping someone Bob knew would notice and harass him or spank him, but Bob’s blind date noticed it first. It would have made a great conversation starter but…Bob got mad and fumed during the whole date. OOPS!

Parent teacher conferences this week….. I am sending JD!!

I get to spend the whole week doing Girl Scouts (to even a greater extent)…tonight Tay’s troop, tomorrow night leader appreciation dessert (that the leaders throw for themselves, sad isn’t it?), Wednesday is Byrds troop meeting that Tays troop is leading, Thursday night Roses troop is going roller skating, and this Friday a night a hotel….not relaxing with my hubby…. but with more Girl Scouts…

We have been meeting with a new physical terrorist, three times a week. It is her job to get the swelling out of Tay’s knee. Tater had been using the electrical muscle stimulator, shock treatments, and ultra sound. The PT …really, she isn’t so bad …yet. Today she gave me a new a new outlook on Tay….and raising girls….

“She’s always in a mood; it is just knowing which one.”

they call me Hiney cause I have a big butt.

I leave my ‘puter for one minute and look what Homer Baxtard did. He gave me a big butt… Boys!

Poop Soup - It's really Spring!

As we were leaving my Grand Nieces Birthday 2nd Birthday party (yesterday); we almost ran over a red headed buffalo, or what I thought was a buffalo. You see the stars were not lined up, so it could have been anything.

Today, I sent the kids packing…..Tater can once again rolled to school. The sidewalks are iceless and I am a nervous wreck. The extra 15 minutes I have gained on my day will be stressing on whether thy made it or not, the stress will linger all day, unless I go check. The two way radio worked today, but cuts out a block from the school and when ever a car passes.

I got an ouch-y on the top of my big toe, it is not being nice. Byrd, asked to see how it was doing, she has been trained by her father how to treat all ouch-ies, infected ones being the most interesting. One look from her she knew the problem, “There’s a Hair in it!” ….Yes internet I have HAIRY TOES!

Rose is hitting that AGE….emotions running wild all weekend!!! We were just getting past this with Tater….not again, will it ever stop!!!

Friday night, JD let Tater and her friends walk to McDonalds for dinner, they were then going to the 7:35 movie. I was not at home at the time and when found out; I was not impressed with his decision. Around 9:00 we got a phone call that they were headed home, walking. They had just gotten out of the movies and noticed it was after nine, they were worried they were late. When they got home they were full of excuses for being late, Here’s my question…..the movie started at 7:35, the movie was 1 hour and 45 minutes long (plus previews), they called at 9:06 saying the movie was over and they were headed home…..who is teaching these kids math? Did they watch any part of the movie? The only answers they gave was “LOOK, here’s out ticket stubs!”….oh silly girls, if you only new!!! Oh yah….Sister…. the girl cousin they ran into there, she just disappeared….not to be found anywhere in the theater. I am now looking to hire a private investigator, to follow my kids!

It rained here….the poop soup is brewing, in my back yard. Maybe my girl scouts will take it on as a community service project….

Too Nice

I really am too nice. Yesterday, we went to sell cookies at Freddie’s today, when we got there, there was another troop setting up to sell. So I take my paperwork to customer service to tell them we were here, the customer service representative was already on the phone taking about GS so I sneak to the front of the line and tell her that we are also scheduled to be there and I have paperwork to prove it. She tells me since I have proof it I get the spot and that I need to kick the other scouts out and send then to the Northern Lights store where nobody was yet.

As I walk up to their cookie booth, it looked like they were packing up, as I ask if they needed help packing up, I thought they were already moving to Northern Lights. The Father volunteer practically jumped down my throat. “We were scheduled here since January” he tells me. I calmly reply, telling him my story, the council told me the troop who originally signed up to sell here canceled, and I scheduled this last Monday. I showed him my paper work and told him that since I have the paperwork; it was rightfully ours and asked him what he would like to do. “We scheduled in January” that’s all I got out of him. Then the leader came back, once again I explained the situation. After it was all said this, is what I got out of it, when they showed up and another troop was setting up, it was the troop that cancelled. They were quickly chased away.

I decided not to kick the second troop out, they were already unloaded and set up, my cookies were still in the car. Their Girls were younger and who could resist Brownies, also the Freddie’s at Northern Light is Closer to home, and I was pretty sure it would just be me Rose and T all day, so notifying other parents wasn’t an issue, I hope. So I took the honorable GS way, loaded T back into the car and left to go back across town.

We pull into the new store 20 minutes after our designated time; I unload T, causing her get amount of pain. Her knee is all swollen and bruised from the cast or the new brace I really do not know, but she is NOT on her feet and moving her leg is near impossible without pain. Anyway, I unload T and have Rose grab the box of stuff to “decorate” our table. First thing we see when we get there is a cookie booth. I head straight for Customer service. Come to find out, once again, I was the third troop to show up. As I left, all I could say is “I AM TAKING THIS TO COUNCIL.”

I didn’t want to sell cookies anyway, but this means yet another weekend of cookies, next week.

T, Rose, and I ended up going out to breakfast. We called JD at work to see if he and Byrd (his apprentice for the day) wanted to join, but they couldn’t. They were late getting to the job site, because our furnace isn’t working. What a mixed up day.

Week In The Life

Choir Concerts, Band Concerts, Night in the Pacific, Cookies, AWANNA Games, Poetry Club, Art Club, Girl Scouts, feild trips….the list is never ending, this is my social life. It seems as if my children have taken over my social life, any that I might have had. I have been hearing about adults taking cabin trips, sledding trips, vacations, and adult date nights, but when I hear about them it is usually to beg me to take over what ever project they have double booked.

It must be the age of my children, these people doing these things either have young kids that have no social life yet, or couples with older kids so they can just leave them to fend for themselves. I just find it all so curious how life changes and that everyone, although we have many things in common, are all at different stages in life. Yes, I am jealous, but not unhappy. The only real problem I have with it all is that there is really nothing to Blog about. Unless you want to hear…

Last, Thursday night we went to “The Night in Pacific" at the school, it was awesome, the girls sang in the choir, very moving. Rose and her class told a Hawaiian legend, using shadow puppets. They had several performers, the kids in enjoyed listening to the Didjeridu, you have to have great talent to use a hallow log as a Kazoo. Maybe, that artist and Brat-knee could have a Kazoo off? And after the concert, they had games, art projects, and a lot of hands on project for the families to do. Before the concert there was a potlatch dinner, guess who we sat by, Sean Krik (sp) and his girls.

Friday night, JD took the Rose and Byrd, to the AWANNA games. Their team took first place. JD said Byrd did not enjoy herself at all, until she received her metal and her leader told her she could be her helper for the rest of the year. Oh yeah, another Homeriod spotting, I don’t know if any of you remember Jesse Quinlin, well, JD met her nieces.

Cookie booth sales went great, all day Saturday. It went SO good that the parents want to do it again. I gave them information and told them to have fun. I still have two more to do this weekend…YUCK.

I went to a scrap booking party with Chelsea’s mom, on Sunday. Something I have NEVER wanted to do, scrap booking. It seems so time consuming and expensive….I came home wanting to buy some stuff. See what happens at these things.

Yesterday, I spent the day at Marlowe Manor, the old folks home, Rose and T, had a choir field trip. They once again were awesome, the old people loved them. After, we went to Carrs and they sang in the deli. The garbage men that were eating lunch there did not appreciate it, but by the time they ended a crowd had gathered. I think rose thought it was a comedy act, or maybe she really feels the music, which one, I am not sure, all I know is she is all hand and facial expressions. After finishing a song at “The Night in Pacific", she waved the applause in with her hands, as she mouthed "Thank you Thank you , I know, I am so good", I hope JD got it on tape.

T got her cast off and got a new leg brace. After a short break, we will start the left leg.

Today, I help Byrd prepare for the Girl Scout meeting she is leading tomarrow night. Eat Right Stay Healthy is our topic, I have prepared for this badge several times in the past, It really amazed me that Byrd has taken it in a whole different direction. She really is concentrating on vitamins and minerals, instead of the food pyramid. She has her lesson plan all made up, she called all the girls and had them bring something and she was quit disappointed when she found out I had already bought the rest of the materials. OOPS, I guess she wanted to shop also.

Well, even if you didn’t want to hear it, at least it is all written down so it will not be forgotten.

More Cookies Anyone?

Since every aspect of life right now( including my blog world), includes mass quaintly of sweetish style delights, that accompany several not so sweetish little lasses, as we try to pawn them (the sweetish delights, not the lasses) off on unsuspecting consumers that only ran to the grocery store for the diapers their young one so needed. Yes I am once again taking Cookies.

Girl Scout cookies started as homemade shortbread cookies. We now call them Trefoils and they are currently made by two manufactures; Little Brownie Bakers and ABC Bakers. Little Brownie Baker is our current supplier. Go check out their sites, there are some vast differences.

Another interesting fact is the Samoa’s have been on the market for 36 years and in Alaska the sales are equal if not greater, than the Thin Mints. I don’t remember them as a kid but I do remember when the Mints were two cookies with mint between them.

Cookies sales, can sometimes be a scary scene, there are many overzealous cookie mom’s out there. I know one leader that holds on to all the best sellers, until the last minute, then she will SELL them to other girl scout troops when the run out. By Selling them to other troops her troop gets the money and the credit. You could ask… why would a troop do that? In most instances, the other troops are forced to buy, if they are out of Samoa’s and Thin Mints most customers will turn away. You need the popular cookies to get rid of large stocks of non-sellers. There have been instances of fights between troops, because someone sold cookies outside of their Service Unit area, yet there are no rules of where you can sell, just that you may not sale them online.

Theft is also a problem, the number of uncollectible checks alone, is enormous. A few years ago I knew a leader that took off with $8,000 worth of product or money. I have also heard that one year a leader had a fire in her garage, burning $5000 of product and cash, sad story… until the next year when the same leader had someone break into her home, the crooks only happened steal the cookies. I just recently heard of a troop who sold $40 worth of cookies to a lady, she paid with a fake $100, and one year a case of cookies were stolen from a booth sale.

People don’t realize that the Girls buy their stock of cookies, if something is stolen, money is lost, cookie sales are down, or if one girl doesn’t turn in money, it could mean all of the troop’s profits. While 75% of the sales go to Girl Scouts in some way shape or form the troop receives just over 10%. The other 65% goes to GSUSA, the local council, the service unit, prizes, scholarships, and camp credits. The majority of Girl Scouts funding comes form cookie sales. Juliette Lowe was a smart lady; she found a way to fund a national organization on volunteers and child labor.

We (as in me) have conducted our own marketing analysis; we have found that we must target all consumers. With homosexual women ages 30 to 60, cookies seem to be purchased to help support their still ongoing saga of woman’s liberation. With single males 35-60 sales vary year to year, this demographic profile sales tend to be one of the toughest sales, these sales tend rely on whether a single gold band is placed on the sales chaperone hand. If a band is present sales tactics must harden. These figures also seem to fluctuate with the sex appeal level of the current sales chaperone. People on strict diets or weigh loss plans must also need coxing in to purchasing, as the adverting for reduced fat and 0g trans fat, have increased.

Our number one consumer, though, is older males ages 60 and over. Most often they purchase cookies against doctor’s orders - psychiatric study has shown it gives a sense of self, a boost, if you say, by defying authority and daring death. It I still unknown if they purchase it as the only chance they have to talk to pretty young ladies, or if it is truly an addiction. Since the rise of Viagra, sales, the sales of cookies to this demographic group have dropped dramatically. As we are currently studying this trend, we are still in debate on the cause.
